Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 26, 2026

This policy explains what information the Ascenvia app collects, why it's collected, and how it's used. Ascenvia is operated by 8th Flame, a business registered in Ontario, Canada. We built Ascenvia to keep as little of your information off your device as possible. Most of what you do in the app never leaves your phone.

Information you provide directly

Account & subscription

When you start a free trial or subscribe, we collect your full name, birth year, and email address. This is used to create your account, manage your subscription, send you receipts and renewal notices, and respond if you contact us for support. Birth year is collected because our subscription terms require confirming you're old enough (18+) to enter into a paid agreement. We only ask for the year, not your full date of birth, since that's all that's needed for this check.

Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. Ascenvia never receives, sees, or stores your card number or any other payment details. Apple processes your subscription and shares with us only what's needed to know your subscription is active (such as your plan and renewal date).

Information stored only on your device

Everything else you enter into Ascenvia is stored locally on your device and tied to your account, not shared with us or any third party:

Because this data lives on your device, uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes it. We do not have a copy of it on our servers.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, Ascenvia uses your device's local notification system to remind you to practice. This happens on-device and does not involve sending your data to a remote server.

Location

The first time you open Ascenvia, the app will ask your device for permission to access your location. You can allow or deny this. Either way, the app works fully without it. We don't store your coordinates from this initial request; we only note whether permission was granted, denied, or not yet asked, shown to you in Settings.

Your actual location is used in two places, and only when you actively use them: if you tap "Use my current location" when adding a calendar event, and in the Compass drawer, to show which city you're currently in alongside your heading. When added to a calendar event, your coordinates are saved as part of that specific event (stored locally on your device, same as your other calendar data) so the event's map link is accurate. When shown in the Compass drawer, your location is looked up live each time you open it and is not saved anywhere. We don't track your location in the background, and you can re-trigger or check this permission anytime from Settings.

Compass

The Compass drawer uses your device's own motion and orientation sensors to show which way you're facing. This sensor data is read live, used only to rotate the on-screen compass dial, and is never stored, logged, or sent anywhere, including to us. On iOS, the system will ask your permission before this data can be read at all, separately from location permission.

Birth chart

If you choose to set up the optional birth chart feature, you provide your birth date, birth time (or indicate that you don't know it), and birth city and country. We use this information only to calculate your astrological chart, including planetary positions and a daily horoscope. Your birth city and country are converted to coordinates using a third-party location lookup service (OpenStreetMap), which receives only the place name you typed, not your name or any other identifying information.

Your birth details and the calculated chart are stored locally on your device and are never sent to us or shared with anyone. You can edit or remove your birth chart at any time from Cosmic.

What we don't do

Children's privacy

Ascenvia requires account holders to be 18 or older, since creating an account means agreeing to a paid subscription. Ascenvia is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of Ascenvia after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
